I loved this great poem I remembers the feeling I had with each of my brothers meeting and greeting and eating together after long years of being apart
I love the tenderness in this piece — it reminds me how friendship outlives years and distance. Truly touching and real.

I love that you felt the eleventh drop — that means the poem has found a friend. 💫
The title alone could be a poem, but love the look back as my first poetry site became untenable some 15 or so years ago, and I miss the few there that made it home. ~Jim
Old friends are fewer and fewer now ... most long gone except for that space between my ears.
Talking over tables gives way to gathering algorithms in the hope of reproducing what once.
Maybe it's like being King of the World ... one day you're on top and you look down and you're balancing alone.
I shall await the continuation j.

It's such a great idea to gather with those you know well from the past....and share everything...quite nostalgic and eye-opening to see how your friends have changed over the years...at my 40th high school reunion, I hardly recognized anyone... yet we bonded, like it was yesterday that we gathered....nothing like"chewing the fat" with those that are of comfort..."Metaphors talking over lunch" wonderful line J
This is really "sweet".....
Warmly, B

Old friends reunited. This poem has a surge of energy. Catching up after years apart. With some people, you just carry on where you left off, regardless of the time lapse. A feast of memories.

Ah, Jacob, this one feels like finding an old cassette tape labeled “Summer, once.” There’s such a gentle ache in the way memory and poetry overlap here, as if time itself pauses to share a cup of coffee.
The line “metaphors talking over lunch” is pure gold. It’s friendship written in the language of verse, where the punctuation is laughter and the ending, fittingly, an ellipsis. Some poems close; this one just keeps breathing.
