Notebook of Recorded Invisibility

Notebook of Recorded Invisibility

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

Notebook of Recorded Invisibility

living in my mind's rubber room

thoughts bouncing off white walls

there is writing on my tongue

but sense is a different coat of paint

I love everyone I love

but I don't know their names now

people take notes on me

but the ink doesn't stick

I am you in the bad times

I am not sure who I am in the good times

my clock is broken

the hands of intelligence stopped on a dime

I love you if you remember who I am

I just wish I did.

the mirror shows a stranger

I've not yet met.

Damn. I watched as my paternal grandmother slipped away into Alzheimer's and this just took me right there. Good writing. ~Jim
