Jacob,
"i hope peace
finds you lodging
in the spirit's realm
where it is infinitely calm."
The poems on here today seem to be following a theme of observation and the human response to all the stuff there is out there. It has made me think about something I've been reading up on, again. Science cannot explain human consciousness. Sometimes I feel like an invisible character/consciousness in one of those movie scenes... like Scrooge visiting the past, seeing, but unseen.
Wondering if the only true reality is inside my consciousness... I get an image of those planters with shelves around the sides, little pockets for those "Hen and Chicks" succulents... A Conscious universe the planter, other smaller consciousnesses growing here and there, a part of the whole, but independent, too, each adding something unique and necessary.
On the other hand, I have been living in this solitude for so long, I think my head is just messing with me... he always was a bit of a jerk...

I am at that age...losing people left and right.

That last line is a powerful way to end this. I can definitely feel your pain in this piece. It carries a weight that only the loss of a close friend can carry.
Nicely written. I hope you're finding comfort in those memories.
Damn J.!
Did you really have to do this on a Sunday? It is Sunday, right?..lol.
To top the whole emotional grip off, ya just had to throw in that line "in anecdotal alignment," didn't ya? It's that one line amongst a crowd of fierce feelings that somehow stopped me within an instant and gave back joy to a painful read. Although " unharmed sky" was a warrior's words that I don't think most would have gone with, and well used, maybe Mary Oliver, but she too is within that sky. Absolutely gorgeously written!
A fine tribute to an old friend… he brings out the sun… in your spirit…. Otherwise a depressed rainy day.. thoughts of him make you smile, and even though he’s long gone to you he’s still a shadow; a living shadow who can enter you space anytime ….
Warmly
