A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

metaphors get swallowed
in allegorical jaws
symbols crunched on the razor sharp
figurative teeth

a real meal
as onlookers read and watch
and sing along
hoping none of the metaphors

were harmed during the making
of this poem.

Metaphors are delicious and unlike animals they never die, even after consumption.

I think they grow in the stomach of the poet.
