a Harlem Night in a Forgetful TownA Poem by jacob erin-cilbertoa
Harlem Night in a Forgetful Town a
clarinet sounds from
the misty channels of
a swollen night club bluesy
notes inhale
the cigarette smoke of
the patrons who speak softly wanting
to absorb the clary's voice the
player in his own world feels
the incessant vibrations his
fingers and lips in
synchronized eloquence bleed
from the cuts of his artistry 2
a.m. finds a few seats still filled sleepy-eyed
individuals doing
last call as
the musician does
a final encore then
sips the last of his complimentary
Manhattan wishing
he were playing there
instead of this
place he won't remember the
name of tomorrow. erin-cilberto 12/2/25 © 2025 jacob erin-cilbertoReviews
