The Second Act

The Second Act

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

The Second Act

a left-wing radical poet
was killed yesterday
one whose soft verse
cried out for peace and freedom

one who used her pen
as a weapon
suddenly
used her car?

someone's engine is misfiring
several someones have a low battery
of tolerance
dirty windshields

causing them misdirection
as they drive the country
to the junkyard
hopefully, there will be useable metal

left
to write some poems
in her honor
continue the voice

that was silenced
by three verbs
bam bam and bam
now her three prepositions

up up and up.
will secure her memory
meanwhile in a cold northern city
the snow continues to fall.

Nicely done, Jacob. Thank you for this. These little tributes we make can't help her, but hopefully they can help those of us left to carry on.

Hopefully....thanks, FD.
My friend, I think this incident is pushing us closer to the year 1776. It will take great courage to live through it. But the courage that every American must have if they cherish their Freedom. Well Written, Jacob.
