Cardinals Ashamed

Cardinals Ashamed

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

Cardinals Ashamed

i am trying to write a love poem

but the sky is too orange

the blue is bleeding

on a city street

with twisted metal

and medals given to those

brave folks

clearing the streets

of life

and legitimate

Americans

who are also

trying to write a love poem

but have their pens

riddled with bullets

the blue is bleeding

orange lets out a victory smile

the streets are silent

there is peace

when only a few birds

are still singing.

hopefully, singing love songs.

We are disrupting Nature, its sweet song and the consequences can only be heartbreaking.
A poem beyond beautiful in its rendition, the cardinals would love you for writing it. Such sadness felt....

Cardinals are pretty and peaceful. Even they wish the world wasn't so ugly and chaotic.

I appreciate the thought very much. You're welcome, Jacob.
much enjoyed read although sad. i love listening to the birds - so reassuring. bold descriptions as they bleed their truths. "In all chaos there is a cosmos, in all disorder a secret order". - Carl Jung

Thank you, Pete.

This one hits like a fist wrapped in velvet—the orange sky, the bloodied blue, and the tension between love and chaos. I like the grind under the beauty; it’s raw, uneasy, and alive.
