A Barometer of Questions

i am just a dot

on God's map

belief is a cirrus cloud

strapping a gargantuan sky

dissipating then coming back together

floating anonymously

an unknown trying

to find a state of understanding

there is such want to fly into that blue

and settle

others watch us go by

and mumble to themselves

"Heathen"

what is your problem?

what is the conundrum?

just accept.

But it can be more complicated than that

weather changes with grief

with consequential events of life and death

random passings, shortened destinies

i am just a dot

trying to find a bigger circle of trust

at times i just fold the map

in my praying hands

close my eyes

and waft.

The poem speaks to me of our randomness, our briefness. How we struggle to exist as dots, to connect ourselves to meaning, to hold on in the face of all the turbulence. In the end, we just fold the map, close our eyes and pray. Your words have a peaceful acceptance and a sense of finality to them. This is such a wonderful poem.
