Is Thinking Really the Best Way to Travel?

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

Is Thinking Really the Best Way to Travel?

there's a fine line

between

fine lines

a split-second decision

splits our attention

down the middle

seconds don't split

obligingly

fine lines

don't feel very fine

in their split-second

lives

i am trying to attend

to those fine lines

and split-seconds

but i just don't have

an extra second

to split

or to

find the

fine lines.

THAT, my friend, is the exact point of it! and we, of course, must join the fray! Which I would, but I just have no free time anymore, and my advanced age and rough ways now dictate that I must rely on my own mind and no other regarding what reality IS, and to live accordingly. So now, I am the walrus. However, this is a really cute bit of writing, my friend. It is beautifully constructed, verbally, mentally, and visually, appealing to all the senses, and moves like a meteor, shedding mass on the way down to a spectacular end. Bravo!

Thanks F.D.
Yes serious issues, but have to have some fun writing about them...I keep ranting.. read more
I sincerely hope those who man our nuclear defense missiles don't make split second decisions. Trump may, but I hope they don't listen to him.

I hear ya on that one, John.

You are most welcome Jacob
I really love what you did here, playing with the words to imply something strong and different throughout out. That was a full enjoyment to read!

hi J…. in my opinion, it’s too late to split lines and try to walk a split line
fine lines are just a part of a whole line, a glance, a quick reflection, how many ways can we split lines, then thoughts or notions just become meaningless….sometimes we do not have extra lines to split… it takes too much out of us….interesting thoughts J

A very interesting play of words. A split second is so brief and yet monumental things can happen in it. And fine lines...sometimes they divide worlds.

You are welcome, my friend.
Jacob,
Time and how we deal with its weird ability to "split" is boggling, as demonstrated by the article I read yesterday. It seems there is evidence the Universe is Infinite, but it's a split decision since there is also evidence it is expanding... which is why I never need to choose the road less taken; I'd rather stay home.
But this is where it flies over my head... On the most fundamental Quantum level, you can't be sure of anything, but especially the things you expect... like this lovely Kamala-inspired word salad:
"The double-slit experiment with light demonstrates its wave-particle duality, showing that light acts as both a wave (creating an interference pattern of bright and dark bands) and as particles (photons), especially when observed, which can collapse the wave function, revealing its quantum nature. A simple version uses a laser, two fine slits (like from a comb or pinholes), and a screen, producing fringes from wave interference, but if you try to detect which slit the light goes through, the pattern changes to two simple bands, as if particles were passing, not waves.
I promise to wave with all my fingers at once as I pass...

There are always more lines, as for the time thing, not so much. Interesting playing around with words. ~Jim

I get lost playing sometimes..maybe I lose meaning doing it.
Thanks, Jim.

I love how this dances on time and perception—every line a careful step along that razor edge.
It’s subtle, precise, and quietly urgent, like trying to catch a breath between heartbeats.

That's a fine poem, Jacob. Not to worry, my friend, you will have plenty of time. Every second you need is measured in your heart.
