Remove Boots at the Door

Remove Boots at the Door

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

Remove Boots at the Door

her frigid demeanor

is slowly melting

like the white gathering

outside my door

we used to love once

but stormed voices rose

feelings banished

we are trying to dig out

from under snow

covering our friction

questions hang in the air

like icicles waiting for a target

Meetings with ex lovers or partners can create awkward situations. The wintry weather conditions a reminder of past cold. Perhaps spring will see a true thaw. This poem will be relatable to many.

Your response is a poem itself and better than the original.

This is truly intense.

I can totally relate to this. I have had awkward moments with previous partners like this.

The best way is to not get too absorbed into the moment. Let the icicles drop and melt away. And the chaos be lifted.

I like that “Monster icicles”.

Haha. 😂
It seems like winter always manages to highlight the friction despite the weight of the snow. Nicely written. ~Jim

How many hundreds of thousands of poems and stories have been written about love, true love, unrequited love, lost love, relationships that are blessed, others that fail. All one of my favorite subjects. So it’s a delight to find a new poem that speaks to me in a fresh way about any of the above. You have done that for me here. Thank you.

Sometimes we CAN forgive, but do we ever forget?

I don't think we ever forget, Chris...not ever.
