a certain god's predestination (for Bukowski)

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

a certain god's predestination (for Bukowski)

the disciples wept
at his tomb
the poet's name
resurrected in bars
stones of aggression
moved with poetic strife

and kind word
swallowed from a beer mug
comes out the other end
with an abusive response
to life
ugly poetry beloved

the tortured artist
his name tattooed
among his allies' breath
his sacrifice of good nature
for syntax
brooding and self-deprecating

much loved among his peers
while his lady friends
weep through their scars
a sadness to his ending
but an ending to the sadness
wrought on so many

of those who loved their beers
as well as his words
Which will be recited
eternally
as he reads them
through a fire with nothing more

than an average burn.

You know.... nicely done. I admit to liking some of his poetry, every drunk does, but have a hard time reconciling his work with his person. It's just not that hard to not be that terrible, at least I like to think. Of of course what it means "to be a man..." is something we all have to face. I feel for the kids these days and what their masculinity seems to be. So fragile. But that's a bit of a digression. Anyways, good on you thinking of those who... didn't become famous.

Me too on the reconciling....I think someone can find fame without being an awful individual.

Well done, as always, Mr. J.
Wow,

Some vivid imagery at play here.

This is deeply imaginative, surreal and a bit edgy.

It’s not everyone’s cup of tea. But I admire your inner strength throughout this piece.

Strange but expressive.

Nothing wrong in being controversial though.
