The Truth of Venus
(Response Poem to Train's Drops of Jupiter song)
by Erin L George
I sailed across a happy sun
catching rays upon my tongue -
landing on the atmosphere,
the kind they often sing of.
I drank up the mango rays
and flirted with Shakesphere -
settling into cozmos,
the kind they write of.
He was too afraid to join
preferring the firmness of land -
keeping his feet on the ground,
where he's planted seed for years.
He eats deep-fried chicken
standing up for his best friend,
best man. Same girl,
the kind you dream about.
I ate of shooting stars
settling into cloudy haze -
sleeping with the moon,
in his warm embrace.
I waltzed with charmy wind
spinning with my arms outstretched -
flirting in the breeze,
with goose pimples.
He worries heaven is overrated
and I can tell him true!
I've been to heaven, back again
I plan, for sure, to go!
