The Future

The Future

A Poem by Hannah Messer
"

Poem about love and not knowing what the future holds.

"
The future is unclear at best,
a cloudy crystal ball.
I tell you everything's okay,
it's all under control.
I'm sorry though,
my darling girl,
for I've told you a lie.
I couldn't tell you,
"I don't know,"
lest I'd damage my pride.
To tell you,
though,
the honest truth,
I'm terrified for us.
If I lose you there's nothing left,
my life will turn to dust.
Although the future is unclear,
I have to do my best.
I have you now,
that's all there is,
can't worry about the rest.

This is a lovely piece of poetry that recognizes that a parent can't always make everything right but can give their child everything they can and the courage to face the future. Inspiring piece of writing

This was beautiful. The rhyming was perfect.

It made me remember of a certain someone during those times where even I was unsure of our future. It made me regret how I didn't value the present during that time.

An amazing piece.
