Henry Ford's Extreme Scapegoating Debunked

I tell some of this story, using rhyming couplets

Ford was a grandfather of fake news

In particular at the expense of the Jews

His propaganda spread a paradigm

To blame the Jews for any crime

A problem real or a problem alleged

This false causation would be full-fledged

Thus everything from corruption in sports to labor unrest

He traced back to the Jews with compulsion and zest

The popularity of jazz and the failure of prohibition

Just blame the Jews without inhibition

The poverty of farmers who worked long hard days

Ford traced to the Jews for alleged exploitive ways

Truth didn’t matter in determining causality

Cause it was antisemitism that shaped this reality

Ford had been taught this when he was young

Lacking early correction to this method he clung

And so on the subject of what causes war

Jews were the villains what else were they for

He cast the Jews compulsively

With no regard for veracity

Earlier on he had made an attempt

to entice some pacifists into this bent

They later regretted having taken his money

Ignoring their sense that something was funny

Ford liked pacifists' rhetoric but did not walk the walk

yet he recurrently echoed their pacifist talk

He idealized himself and white gentile men

While villainizing the Jews again and again

This was a method of prejudice indeed

That Ford mass produced for all who could read

Or listen since the topic was widely talked about

Even as clearer thinkers tried to root it right out...

I must say that I don't understand racism, and fully embrace MLK Jr's advice to judge by the content of character. The same creator made us all, after all. I had heard some of these things about Henry Ford, but now I know more.
