Comfortably sinking

Comfortably sinking

A Poem by Buy The Ticket, Take The Ride

It's not that I don’t care

it's just that I gave up

but I would do anything I swear

just to make make things look up

It's true, it feels like I’ve tried everything

but I still sink in my misery like quicksand

I'm in so deep I cannot stand.

Sinking deeper my lungs fill with this toxic sand

Deep beneath the earths crust

no more love, no more trust

I think of life and feel disgust

I cant go on but feel I must

The dirt is heavy, I have no strength

I don’t even try, I have no energy

Before I tried at length

but all I've gained is lethargy

I haven't breathed in days

I try to die but cannot suffocate

Cannot live and cannot die, I frustrate

So I continue to lay there in my lethargic haze

People dig down to offer assistance

But all I offer them is resistance

Because although I'm miserable

this wallowing pain is now so comfortable

So I dig deeper down

hoping to hit the water where I'll drown
