The Demons Within

A poem about mental illness

the demons within

her raging mind

tell her to fight

tell her to hide

 

i see a girl

searching for love

but lost in confusion,

hatred, and blood.

 

my heart aches for her

i want to hold her near

she pushes away

from all who hold her dear

 

a lonely fight

her life seems to be

i wish i could help-

help her to see and believe

 

i know her battle

must be done on her own

i pray she defeats her demons

and returns to her loving home.

There are a lot of things that this poem can mean, I think. Mental illness was mentioned below ... but I think, too, that it could talk about abuse and/or the dreams of a little girl that's locked inside of yourself. I like all the emotion that you've packed into it.
