The Likes of your Rhyme

A poem about arguing with someone whose words are meant to hurt you.

Turn me a tide, at the likes of your rhyme,

I too have words, a crescendo in time,

Sing thee a crime committed in good taste,

Set purge to my mind, though swallowed in grace,

Words stylized and shallow in meaning,

Strike my nerves to set fire, my breathing.

Though serenity bestows the fallen,

Mighty is the one who knows his calling,

Make clear your intentions for I forgive,

Should you so choose life, make certain to live.

Just like to point out that I usually do not write with a specific format, but here I used a rhyme scheme and a 10 syllable count for each line.

I like this a lot. Considering the subject matter, arguing with someone who has reached the point where their only option is to hurt you, it comes across perfectly. Great write sir. :)

Thank you. It was about a friend who was skilled at the art of arguing. She would speak gracefully, but the meaning of her words were never quite lost on me.
