Numb

Stars shine bright while ships sail south,

And all the clocks in the universe are ticking,

As two lovers fade into oblivion. 

A sense of doubt builds within,

Until there is no longer trust,

No longer any emotions at all.

Deprived of the sensation of feeling anything 

But a dull numbness--

Making it nearly impossible for words to come together.

There is nothing poetic about feeling this way--

Yet here I sit,

Struggling to fit the words together 

To better describe three simple words--

"I feel numb"
