turns out im colorblind

A Poem by Everett Dulin

comma between, comma before
my resting lips, chapped and scarred
the second's hesitation, the cracked but that comes near
the unlearned lesson, that disappointment you fear

the moment's gaze, caught on chapped silence
muddied and brazen, anticipations physical form
a millisecond break, dreading the broken violence
and palm's glistening, that gaze almost draining

i killed myself, in that moment of silence
a flagpole piking, of all the greens, reds, and yellows
split down my own maroon pole, my flag's splatching
chapped skin, trailing the line's hold

i killed myself, in that year long silence
the millisecond of reflection, before my buts inciting
the reminder of my purpled skin, why i was dying
i killed myself, but-- i didn't really care for dying
