diamond dustin and the big 318

diamond dustin and the big 318

A Poem by Everett Dulin

i need control
i roll my bedmat in the mornings
and unroll it the same every single time
hostel bathroom screams, thin wall passengers
i'm always out of sight

hostel bath night terrors
i've always been afraid of water
and shower heater burn marks
i wake up drowning,
my saline womb ran cold

hostel bathroom passengers
i need control

in the morning i have my
lonesome cigarette, i quit coffee
because i loop and dream,
my thoughts run cold
i lose control

public park screams
the things ive done

i lose more sleep
but the dread's all the same
i lose my thoughts
unrolled clean, every single night

i need control
i unroll my bedmat
the sheets prelaid tight
ive done this the same
every single night
i need control

i have a cigarette
i go to the park and cry
cursing and screaming
smashing bottles barefoot
getting into fights

the things ive done
unrolling my mind
who have i become
i dont get any sleep at night

i need control

Hello

I read your story recently. The narrative was so clear that it felt more like watching a world unfold, scene by scene, rather than reading. As if it were already destined to exist beyond the page, it naturally turned into images in my mind. It occurred to me that this narrative has the potential to be published, complete with a striking illustrated edition and cover designed by professionals.
I’m a professional comic and manga artist, and I specialize in crafting premium visuals that bring stories to life whether that’s through full-book illustrations or standout cover art tailored for print and digital release. I'd love to help create the story's visual identity if you ever decide to take it to the next level.

This piece doesn’t ask for pity. It bleeds truth.
It's not just poetry .it's survival in verse.
You’ve captured the desperate beauty of falling apart while begging not to.
