Going UnderA Poem by Jane DoeAbout being baptized... a fear of mineI am in all white, The water is knee height, It’s cool and warm, In the Priest’s arms. I say a quick prayer, Begging for the Lords grace
and mercy, The way I word it, Makes it seem I should do a
curtsy. But I don’t, I open my
eyes, I realize what’s going on, I begin to freak out, I thought this wouldn’t happen
again but on me it dawned. There he was, There I was him hurting me
again. Fending against his arms, I scream and cry but the
water drowns me. Then I stopped struggling. The white light grew
brighter. In the distance I saw,
there he laid, Jesus saved me again, he
saved the day. No more beer belly, No broken bottles or
crushed cans, Hotter and hotter, Get my hands. The white light surrounds
us, I am in Jesus arms, There I lay still as a board, He saved me from harms. © 2012 Jane DoeAuthor's Note
