Ada, oklahoma 1983A Poem by JasonBased on the true story "An Innocent Man" written by John GrishamLights out! screams the guard Out in the cells, stairs and in the yard Clink! Clank! sounds of the cold metal And be quiet Mr. Williamson! (he was most terrible) In the small town of Ada Oklahoma, 1983 Murder, rape, and the 3rd degree Two men held, (although never would admit) To a heinous crime, they never did commit The judge, jury, prosecutors and reporters Point their fingers and smite those supporters 14 long years (and 5 on death row) Everyone certain that Ron would not be let go Dream confessions and false statements The proof for dismissal was overwhelmingly blatant Ignored and overlooked as the final stage was set Poor Mr. Williamson, was now sentenced to death Finally lady justice tilted on the side of the innocent But many, many years were lost in deep lament a ruling of 'not guilty' setting two men free wrongly accused of a murder in Oklahoma; 1983
