Why does one love this winter?A Poem by JasonFrigid feelings Ossify then crumble In a snowfall Putrid before the bloom The spring trees swing bare And stripped branches stare Follow with hollow sounds of dry love Why… …does one love this winter? Dreams wait to thaw Like those that nightmares awaken As one huddles, covered by woven warmth And not that of another’s heart It is the lonely winter that love settles Only the coldest souls beyond one’s druthers And the wit of warmth and the breeze from the bay Fall short the life of a lover from the teeth of its prey The brittle pain of frost And the gnaw of the North This season never dies But always longs to be lost Why does one love this winter? © 2011 JasonFeatured Review
