For moments at a time i wonder
what song might've won her
in the distant past
one that she didn't last
now i look at my guitar
is the magic key in a jar
or is there a tune to your heart
a melodic dark
or a harmonic light
that has scales of great height
but now the time has come
for me to come and hum
a song i tried so hard
something i would want to guard
a simple melody
a complex harmony
an unfamiliar tune
all to win your heart,
please don't tell me
i tried to hard to please,
please just say to me,
that i may take your hand now
