My Sweet, Dead JerichoA Poem by unsentwordsofgirlIt’s hard to remember who they were before. Sometimes you have to accept that it’s not them anymore, but you can still love who they used to be
As the frost melts away
And the promise of warmth comes my way I remember my dear Jericho My sweet, dead Jericho To forget your eyes feels like a crime To be gone from my world, Dear God How could you make me so blind? When the sun heats my skin And I think about what could’ve been It boils a million degrees Dear Jericho, sweet Jericho Why did you ever leave? We planted the seed And the roots have taken in Jericho, please Please, love me stiff My dead Jericho, don’t let me go I’ll think about you forever Even if the seed never grows. © 2025 unsentwordsofgirlAuthor's Note
