Gone

Gone

A Poem by Funmi Elizabeth Olaiya

You went -

Just like sugar melted in water

I'll try not to waver

I won't see you again

I can't endure this pain

I don't know my fate

Now you've reached yours

I can feel you no more

Cos you have no pulse

You were taken from me

The pain be wilder me.

The tears keep flowing

Even though I don't understand it

I'm sure the trees will bow down to you

And the branches will fall on your tomb

I pray I meet you in a good place

For me it will be a heavenly grace

I'll try not to miss you too much

To all those wicked ones, you're not like such

I can no longer feel your touch

Time goes tick-tock on the watch

Never minding, it heals so much

From dust you were made

And unto dust you are returned.

Rest In Peace.
