Once

Once

A Poem by gabbyhopeharo
"

I don’t know when or how my innocence was taken but I know it was too soon. Everyone deserves the grace of innocence.

"
I once liked the sun
I even enjoyed the moon
Someone close once said they’d be back soon
These bright lights now turned into clouds
One kind smile has now taken a frown
The soft white hat I once wore
Styled perfectly to bring me comfort
Taken from me in sudden disregard
Still hopeful I emerge in a glide
Seeking so hard to find the other side
Where my kind natured knit would reside
I then see why time after time
The clock always changes and I realize
It’s my innocence I no longer recognize
It was always just a fading sequence of time
And it was never really mine
My security blanket, taken too soon
And I can’t seem to recall by who

I already want to critique myself…I had a simple poem and kept adding my own experiences and I should “keep it simple, stupid”
Grrrrrr
