Lonely Music

Music is a privilege

which I have taken for granted,

used, abused, beaten black and blue

for benefit of my own.

With others so skilled 

and celebrated in talent,

musicians and technicians feel like competition

so I quit and devour music alone.

Anyone that writes, sings, paints, plays an instrument etc. has do so because they love what they do. Later they may share this with others, and there my be some that like and dislike the art produced. If you do it all alone and not share the talent anymore give it time as an artist you will need to share eventually agan.

Wow! I thought I was alone but you have summed up in two verses my love of music and how I have learnt to "devour music alone"

I love music but music doesn't like me so I sing in the shower room and drown any critic or competition.

This poem saddened me but it's so relatable to music lovers. At one point we will try to make our own music after loving it for so long but the competition out there makes us hide our own music out of fear. This poem is insecurity in two verses. Wonderful work. :)
