Little AngelA Poem by gabiaimeeWith round cheeks and wild curls.
I used to know this little girl
with round, pink cheeks and Shirley Temple curls that fell around her face. Everyone told her she was an angel, but all she saw was the little girl with round cheeks and wild curls. As she grew so did her curls, thick and untamed as the thoughts that swam within her. They said she had something special, but all she saw was the little girl with round cheeks and wild curls. By age 13 she wanted to be wanted; by 16 she wanted to be happy, and by 18 she wanted to be okay. She saw the weight and she saw the scars and she saw the little girl with round cheeks and wild curls. She never thought she was an angel. More like a banished visitor from Hell, but nothing pretty and nothing good. The night she held the bottle to her lips she only saw the little girl with round cheeks and wild curls. What she never saw was how from her pain a pair of wings had broken surface on her shoulder blades. They found the angel in the morning; They buried the little girl with round cheeks and wild curls.
