The Book

Choosing a book
At the local bookshop
I read the short blurb
Then I open it up.

It has me hooked
It's so well written
Within a few pages
I've quietly been smitten.

The hero's in trouble
My heartbeat quickens
Who is the villain
The mystery thickens.

Bombs and explosions
High speed chases
What's the hero do next
With the troubles he faces?

It all slams to a halt
Steam breaks hissing
I've been short changed
The last page is missing!
