Two Spirits

Two Spirits

A Poem by Kenneth The Poet

two spirits find each other,
each a piece of thick rope
at first loose and disconnected,
but they find a common cause,
a sense of connection they
find with nobody else
and so each spirit threads
itself with the other,
appearing opposed at first
glance but the loops face
each other and they tighten
themselves together, simple
actions yielding deep meanings,

this imagery supersedes the
premise of prongs and sockets
because they can come apart
with the easiest of pulls,

for many, two loops facing
each other and knotting and
tightening together is the idea
that is right and best, just
something so square for
everybody who is fighting for
basic rights and those who
have the basic rights,

may everybody square
themselves with what
is right and best,
that humankind is
woven together in an
awesome, appealing
tapestry called
harmony and peace,

let's hope that one of
the world's major
service organizations,
which displays the
square knot so openly,
changes its tune soon

I love the metaphor of the rope knot for people struggling, pulling apart and being drawn together. It gives the freedom to allow harmony, but also to permit conflict. It is the choice for humankind to make. Great work!

It was a pleasure :)
Nice. Masculine ring to it with enough tenderness to drive the point home.
"this imagery supersedes the

Metaphoric with the desired intent, I think. Very nicely worded...

Thank you so much, Rouillie. I apprciate it.
A powerful metaphor to tell a story of great wisdom and the need for compassion. The knot in my mind symbolized holding hands with family...a lover...a stranger. Getting past our disagreements and the fear of committing...
