Flake

Flake

A Poem by Kenneth The Poet

canola oil and water,
bubbles falling and
floating like turds
in a commode
refusing to flush,

and one has to
wonder why an
apple-polisher
would waste
the effort
unless he had a
secret addiction
to eating tinsel,

and the apple-polisher
calls him stupid and
not a progressive
because his work
ethic is like most
other people's,

he's not the problem
but guilt by association
creates a s**t-ton of
needless heartburn
on all sides,
with all agents,

she was searching for
an escape clause since
thirty-nine in October
sucks like a Dyson on meth,

or any other time of year
for that matter,

but the echo-locators that
call her campanile home
are searching for a change
of scenery,

her mental dandruff now has
the consistency of
newly-fallen snow,

and the newest offspring,
three generations below her,
may never know her name
or her being since she refuses
to make herself tangible,

the apple-polisher needs
a wake-up call,

she's a flake

I will need to go through this almost line by line to understand what I can of the complexity that is so obviously here. What I can say at the moment is that such complexity in describing her makes for a full, honest and strangly compelling portrait. She is known.

Not only social commentary but an internal flush of potency...a wonderous write, I am left reeling from so many lines, the imagery, perfect! All connected in what seems something that could be decoded for many aeons, now that is great poetry xoxo

Thank you Ken.
the line: "...addiction to eating tinsel" did it for me. Like in a lot of your writing there's the "inside" references, ya gotta dig those. I remember in my college days, I met a lot of flakes I didn't' recognize then.... brilliant piece Ken.

Thanks Roarke.
I have always wondered about those that won't flush. What exactly do they want? What is their purpose? Are they survivors that refuse to keep up? Excellent piece Kenneth.

Thanks Neva.
An intensely colourful social commentary that begins enigmatically and grows increasingly potent (and poetic) as it progresses. Hope my interpretation isn't too far off the mark :P
