Six Five

Six Five

A Poem by Kenneth The Poet

six five six five six five six five six

secession may be the righteous fix

but that's not likely the case

the economy's in a bad place

this divisive line, red versus blue

has turned the Congress into glue

can't get the new farm bill written out

despite the small state's screaming shout

this may be the slope the nation's on

before we know it, the nation's gone

a debtor's life to some kind of other

to get by, we sell out our own brother

for a pittance, a little piece of s**t

and the ravaging guilt will not quit

even the oil money stops flowing

bust is where this place is going

maybe soon and maybe long off

either way, you can hear the cough

a stone cold audience, no reaction

and now that case has no traction

yet the skeptics know the cycle

just as the sniper knows his rifle

so secession is not the path

it just kills the founder's craft

the fifty white stars become

split red and blue, the rotten plum

pus orange oozing out from in

the battle royale nobody wins

bankrupted past zero return

a lesson that can't be unlearned

six five six five six five six five six

secession is not the final fix
