This Ugly Beast

This Ugly Beast

A Poem by Kenneth The Poet

perpetual war for perpetual peace
send off our sons, they're the grease

I don't care what Victor Davis Hanson says
he's as senseless as a stick of cherry Pez

Bobby McFerrin said, don't worry be happy
if you believe in peace, you're not weak or sappy

screw those men in those seats of absolute power
someday soon will come the reckoning hour

I have to agree with Black Sabbath on this
on harmony and peace, the war pigs s**t and piss

it should be over now but it can't ever end
profit motivates our passions, we won't ever bend

the election is done but the war rages on and on
it won't ever end until I'm really dead, really gone

if we don't kill ourselves, the Earth surely will
Mother Nature will make us eat our trash and swill

put down the guns and put down the nukes
and let's publicly execute those war pig kooks

inciting a riot maybe be a sentence of death
but it's better than ranting and being out of breath

to this end, I hope it shall be forever done
without it, our successors shall have none

Jesus voiced, you have done unto me unto the least
someday down the line, we fall prey to this ugly beast

Author's Note

Kenneth The Poet
The muse has eluded me lately. So, I dug out the archive and I found one I wrote almost a decade ago. Even back then, I had big ideas but my chops were neither honed or bloodied. Hope you like this neophyte attempt at profundity.

I'd say you acquitted yourself pretty well in the profundity department, especially taking the context into consideration...I still don't know how he got a second term, not that he's the only politician this could be applied to...

Agreed. It's like the song "You're So Vain" and how its applied to the shallowest of men.

Haha very true.
Well, you do have a point- make that many points. It does have large amounts of cynicism (but I'm not one to talk haha) but it is a strong statement as a whole.
I particularly liked "
inciting a riot maybe be a sentence of death
but it's better than ranting and being out of breath"

I feel like that's a little hypocritical on many of our parts. All talk and no action, sadly. I guess we have to be the change we want to see in the world.
Thanks for the thought-provoking read and hope all is well!
