Halogen ExcitementA Poem by Kenneth The Poethalogen excitement shooting skyward and outward but refracted and reflected by water droplets frozen into hexagonal bliss,
a fuzzy pall lays across the landscape reminding the natives that this is the seasons of death warmed-over,
the animals hibernate whiles the depressed ones nod off permanently yet life mushes onward in Iditarod fashion,
stupidity-induced accidents and hypothermia claim more lives,
the emergency room traffic spikes threefold or so,
and the box store traffic screeches to an ever-loving halt,
the smart ones are getting drunk and are knocking up their significant others because watching Netflix gets old really fast,
maybe winter is the season of life?
who knows, but it is a hazy f*****g season,
through the window, the water hexagons obscure the halogen excitement just so,
it can be seen just fine but it looks smoky like eyes in a Maybelline advertisement,
maybe that's where the title of the Bangles song came from,
halogen excitement shoots downward from the ceiling,
just another night of boredom, fast or slow,
maybe the light fixtures will collapse in Hollywood film succession and the long tube bulbs will spray their shattered remains and mercury gas everywhere because the box store roof can't handle the weight of the perpetual snowstorm outside,
it's just a fantasy, anyway, but it redefines a hazy shade of winter, doesn't it?
hazy halogen hexagons excite the mind all the wintertime long,
indeed it does! © 2013 Kenneth The Poet |
