Late At Night

Late At Night

A Poem by Kenneth The Poet
"

"
Late at night
is when the demons,
the witches, the vampires
and the were-things
are supposed to come out
and haunt us until we
s**t our beds

but those on the night shift haven’t
seen those creatures around...

unless those people are
medical professionals and
they associate those creatures
with our very nature

they routinely see the events
that populate the horror annals

we imagine the monsters even
though reality is populated by
ones that look like you and me

but then night is the time
when darkness manifests,
and the time of day itself
need not matter

late at night becomes
a matter of perception

a slave held in a savage’s
basement knows not the
actual time and place, just
the tortures he inflicts

shitting the bed out of fear,
real, true, actual fear

late at night becomes
permanently scalded onto
the skin called memory

when you fall asleep late at night,
just remember some monsters
are more real than others

Wow! You see?
I was going to taste you a little piece at a time, to see what makes you. But I am sucked into this consuming vacuum of powerful suggestion and downright clarity!

You are a dangerous man! (wink)
I love it!
