Russian DollA Poem by Kenneth The PoetWritten in December '23something timeless, something spaceless, something disembodied, something totally nonsensical created this singular mess called the universe… but how? how does something immaterial act, let alone create stuff from non-stuff? this caveat implies that matter being created nor destroyed is only valid in this universe… yet if man is made in the image of god, why is this being immune from physical laws? therefore if god is matter, then god can act and create and do all the things associated with being a being made of matter… so this god exists on a physical plane all its own, and since this being exhibits traits of a personage, then the Russian doll scenario comes into play… this god may have been created by a greater god on a plane greater than the plane that contains the universe we exist in… just like the natural numbers are the innermost egg of the numerical set diagram, so is the universe we exist in… the god that created our universe from the matter in his spatial plane is the set of integers, numbers that are positive, negative or zero… and then it goes onward and upward from there, rational, real algebraic and the reals… the Russian doll of infinite regress hidden within the uncaused cause appears like a festering wound covered in salt… but the theists say this entire line of inquiry is nonsense on its own… whatever created the universe existed logically prior to it and came into temporal being, thus time began as soon as God acted… how is that not special pleading? how is that not extra steps? they complain that the beginning of spacetime requires an explanation… the theist tells us logically that material reality begins and ends with the universe, therefore their creator must be immaterial… so are we caught in The Matrix? so are we brains in a vat? are we sentient illusions that can’t explain their own existences in any terms, let alone material terms? are we stuck in the imagination of some person that we ourselves can’t describe? if so, then we may be stuck in a Russian doll of the immaterial instead of the material… regardless, arguing about the existence of the divine is driving through a roundabout multiple times on purpose, is mapping a place In spacetime but it lacks any kind of dimension… it’s like the song George Michael sang back in 1987 but it goes for everything material as well as immaterial… even the Russian dolls in our spacetime look shocked that we ponder such ludicrous things… but that’s what happens when you have imagination, it transcends the distance between you and the abyss… everything stares at you and that might be the cold comfort we all need to accept… that might explain why the dolls came from Russia to start with © 2025 Kenneth The Poet |
