SolsticeA Poem by Kenneth The PoetWritten in December '23the point of no return has passed, the days will become longer again as time marches on like the great army on the way to its great defeat… this appears to be the path of this once great nation, if this nation was ever great at all… the fascist was kicked off the ballot in one state and it’s possible it could occur in others… but even if the fascist skirts the brink and comes away from it, it’s unlikely the party that loves him will win the ultimate prize… trends in history can change, and they’re predictable enough to last for long periods of human-sized time… the other party is the only one that can outright win an election, while the fascist’s party requires intervention from built-in undemocratic means to gain victory… and the trend of the other party owning the hearts and minds of the urban people has been shown in recent history, blueberries floating in a sea of tomato soup… land doesn’t vote, making the math of one person, one vote quite unbalanced… but then flyover country would never receive the proper voice its needs if the urban islands control the levels of power… but the campaigns rarely come to the rural lands because they don’t swing an election, the states that could swing do… so they’re ignored altogether no matter how it is sliced… and now that the solstice has passed and a new year is soon to be thrust upon us, it’s going to be a fun one because it’s now cycled through to one that’s divisible by four… just make sure to watch your step out there and get some cleats on your boots… the fall comes unexpectedly © 2025 Kenneth The Poet |
