Another Eve

Another Eve

A Poem by Kenneth The Poet

another eve dawns and sets,

just another day come and gone…

and another year come and gone

without a second coming…

and the apologists still warn you

to get right and then the time between

then and now is just the passing

of today and tomorrow for the almighty…

and it’s just a perpetual game of

both sides screaming the other is wrong…

it doesn’t matter to them if beliefs

come and go, theirs is the right one,

theirs is the correct one and shall be so…

and yet so many of them can’t just stop

there, they need to go the extra mile

and ensure all the youngsters get the

message regardless if they believe a man

rode a flying horse or not…

or if they’ve seen the virgin mother in a vision…

or if they’ve seen cow idols drink milk

from a spoon…

and it’s one of about a thousand reasons

why I can’t abide by the structure that

broke a man for no reason whatsoever,

what even is the thing that we’ve been

supposedly afflicted with?

and if you mull it over like spiced cider,

why is it even your fault?

let’s be clear here, you can be

a guilty s**t stain but being born

a human is not a crime in and

of itself, so why should we be

punished for that?

it feels like you’re gambling

with your last dollar in a

Vegas casino, the deck is stacked

against you and the house always wins…

and the apologists have been spreading

this needlessly fucked-up philosophy

for who knows how long now…

and they won’t stop because

that second coming will always

be imminent, even as another eve

becomes another day and

another day becomes another year…

praise be to the timeless, spaceless one

because it basically exists nowhere and never…

and those that don’t comply will still be

told they have time to get it right this time

or next time…

good luck with that, zealots!

Kenneth, this piece hits with a raw, unfiltered honesty that’s impossible to ignore. You capture the exhaustion that comes from watching the same arguments cycle endlessly, belief against belief, certainty against certainty, while time keeps moving forward, indifferent to all of it. It’s bold, biting, and unapologetically direct. A powerful read.
