A Poem by Kenneth The Poet

Pete Seeger could maybe write

the finest worksong, but he’d not

write something like welcome to the

occupation or exhuming McCarthy…

and this would both disturb the

force and the residents of the

heron house…

strange, huh?

it’s the end of the world as we

know it, and most of us aren’t

feeling, but at this moment

I’m feeling fine…

the next round of bohica injections

will definitely affect me and the one I love…

the happy vibes will be swept into

the fireplace as fast as you can say

we remember Lightning McQueen,

and Lightnin’ Hopkins…

and on the other side of town,

a gang war is brewing as the

king of birds is trying to oust

Peewee from the leadership role

in Oddfellows Local 151…

this document will self-destruct

in five seconds

This poem stitches pop culture, protest, and paranoia into a restless end-times murmur. It feels improvised, ironic, and oddly intimate all at once. A strange transmission that knows exactly what it’s doing.
