Life's Rich Pageant

Life's Rich Pageant

A Poem by Kenneth The Poet

it’s time to begin the begin,

whatever the hell that means…

these days, you may as well

fall on me and we fall together

into the river that was once on fire,

the Cuyahoga…

and the hyena in the nearby zoo

will laugh at us and we drown to

the level underneath the bunker…

and while we die by liquid asphyxiation,

I believe the flowers of Guatemala

will bloom onward and upward…

what if we give it away, the images

of flowers blooming instead of our

untimely, water-borne deaths?

just a touch of beauty above the

sadness, like swans and hummingbirds

singing hurrah for their freedom…

freedom to fly like Superman on

the regular to save the day…

just more weirdness in this bouquet,

this banquet called life’s rich pageant
