Atheism

Atheism

A Poem by Kenneth The Poet

Atheism rejects an outside agent,
so atheism rejects an objective morality,
so atheism rejects a special creation,
so atheism rejects an eternal afterlife
that somehow leads to humanity's cold death,
an extinction on par with the dinosaurs,
but nobody remembers the dead and gone
buried in the graveyard of the church,
urban or rural, geography is irrelevant,
because the dominant religion's final goal
is one of two place, heaven or hell
just like black or white, hot or cold,
right or wrong, constant or variable,
because an eternally good being is
perpetually offended by the smallest of
infractions, like spraying out a replenishable
seed after staring at some obscene materials,
so an everlasting punishment is necessary
to balance some kind of cosmic checkbook
and that seems really unfair to the specks
that are ants when compared to the being
that created and controls this universe
and the apologists just shrug their shoulders
in unison and accept his everlasting dictatorship
like it was the law of gravity or the elliptical
nature of our solar system because it's a cold,
hard fact to them and they are oblivious to how
nihilistic that an everlasting death sentence
really, truly is and so that's why many atheists
compare religion to a virus and an outside being
to a cruel plantation owner or prison warden,
yet in retrospect, the penetrating eye
of naturalistic examination should weigh,
measure and balance his or her own bedrock
beliefs and presuppositions to see if they
stand up to scrutiny because apologists are
always wise as well, and atheism inspires
its own end result, a third outcome,
a more realistic option akin to the Judaic
concept of the grave, Sheol as they say,
no afterlife, no judgment, just a rotting,
corporeal slumber that remains perpetual,
eternal and everlasting because nobody
should be obsessed with digging up bones
because we function exclusively in the
here and now, and we need only to
inoculate ourselves from the god virus
through the use of education and naturalism
because when the evangelical apologist screams
that the faith must be spread to every
subsequent generation through the idea of
preach or perish, you know they've stolen a line
from academia, the land they routinely lampoon
as being full of heathens that are poisoning the
minds of tomorrow's youth now, because you
perish if you do not publish and the point of
view that has made deposits into the checkbook
of actual reality as of late has been atheism.

I am an atheist. And i am strongly against the idea of religion. And i am forever trying to explain why. This is the best i have ever seen it put. Thank you.

"the god virus"
i hope one day, we can cure the world.

VERY well articulated thoughts, that leave me pensive of all the different, more interesting options that I have encountered. Sure, they all amount to death management systems. Since we're here and thinking (Well, a lot of people are), who wants the ride to stop?

All believers believe; Atheist to Omega. Perspectives may be different in focus, as is so deftly pointed out in this piece.

Brilliant. c: Irrelevant is in the dictionary and that's enough for me.
