Woke Up This Morning

Woke Up This Morning

A Poem by Kenneth The Poet

Woke up this morning
feeling rather good
subsisting, persisting
onward and upward
despite being sixty-two
point five percent of
today's total, optimal
sleep quotient,
but it is what it is
and I'm somewhat awake
somewhat alive,
somewhat alert,
somewhat enthusiastic
like everybody else
on this small rock,
the pale blue dot.

Maybe it's the caffeine,
maybe it's the Ben Folds Five
song blaring from the speakers
next to me, maybe it's the
unrelentingly optimistic
caramel center of my being
beneath my morose exterior.

Whatever the reason,
I woke up this morning
and I feel like conquering
this one existence and its
human inhabitants one shell
and one ghost at a time.

I really enjoyed this. It shows me that you have a peace within that you carry throughout your days.. Like a grace and ease with the day.. An excellent piece and just getting up and having breath is a good thing ;) xx

Well hallelujah and howdy doo! I'm not feeling so bad this morning, myself. This certainly helped my mood a bit. Nicely expressed thoughts for the day.

LOL. Good for you K. Even perfect balance requires opposition. The last two lines herein are classic, for this reader. Good job.
