Working Class Hero

Working Class Hero

A Poem by Kenneth The Poet

whoever talked about
them first, the working
class heroes, were likely
right, it is something to be.

Basically a Westernized
untouchable, lost in a
mountain of debt because
he or she made some choices
that weren't the greatest,

or because nature doesn't
exactly nurture everybody,

and so the white collar
becomes the grease collar,

or the color of sky in daytime,

taking paltry amounts for their
ever-so-limited lifespans,

trading so much just to stay
alive longer,

to stave off the bitter end,

and to give beautiful little
peanuts a shot at life outside
the plastic box,

life turned hard at the inception
of the fourth decade,

and that's probably where
the meaning is meant to be made.

at what emotional cost, though?
