Battleship Capital

Battleship Capital

A Poem by Kenneth The Poet

North on Ninth and
South on Seventh,
a universal truth in the
battleship capital
coated with contour and culture,

ways of flow are ways of life in
this place where McKenzie
and Hill had heavy impacts in the past
whereas Conrad, Hoeven and
Dalrymple have the impacts now,

life booms here because
cries are frequent on
fifth level overlooking Thayer Ave,

and everyday the young couple
holds vigil over the plastic box
since so much has been occurring
to the new life within,

chronic lung surveillance,
a bout with staphylococcus,
several blood transfusions,
hundreds of times being
poked and prodded,
a lab rat pin cushion
but with human features,

the way of life,
Seventh and Ninth,
for the young couple
in the battleship capital,

press on like Saul of Tarsus,
press on!
