Where You Get Off

Where You Get Off

A Poem by Kenneth The Poet

this is where you get off,
back at home in coal country
while twenty-one others get
turned into wolf-s**t hybrids
while the last one is given
an arrow shaft through the
center of his nervous system,

and now the state lives in a
fantasy world where a pair
of star-crossed lovers is seen
as a threat to their regime
even though the nuclear
arsenal is always stocked
and ready to go at a
moment's notice,

look at the numbered
district that was lucky
enough to be numbered
unlucky from the inception,

is there really that much to fear?
