They Just Do

They Just Do

A Poem by Kenneth The Poet

it takes work,

emotional force multiplied
by emotional distance,

to plow through the day
for many people,

the average is the mean day
in fact since an equal and
opposite workload called
the non-Leadbelly blues
is trying to drag you down,

work you down into
qualitative nullness
at least your spirit
that is since matter
can be neither
created nor destroyed,

the prayer-minded talk
about bearing a wooden
load where the beams
have slopes of the
opposite reciprocal
variety and the fulcrum
or centroid lies squarely
on your shoulders,

you have to wonder how
the normal ones can
survive it without
chemical assistance,

the legal variety that is,

they just do,

they just must do
