Karaoke Silence

Before midnight and dawn

I huddle in bed

Thinking 

"The neighbors are so noisy"

with their loud music and singing

Welcome to the Philippines,

as one would say

where singing karaoke

was as normal

as corruption and heavy traffic

But the darkness isn't as welcoming

because I have come to the point

where I would rather hear

annoying pop songs

and poorly sang classics

than to wallow

in the silence 

of my room
