Hookey

Hookey

A Poem by Ghiasquared

Mining for something precious in the soul of the day,
The swill of caffeinated brew electrifies every nerve,
Eyes focus the mind with the light of life renewed,
Ears humming with the muted background noise,

Brisk wind awaits as chariot draws near,
Supple leather with warm breath surrounds,
A flick of a knob brings melody of rebellion,
Switch turned and a new power swells,

Pulsating air tends to mood while pavement flows,
The daunting thought of daily grind begins to seep in,
Mood falters as the pit of hell looms closer,
Pressure of foot stalls the journey as others rocket by,

New thoughts of pleasured day tug at reason,
Turning upon the path of play brings mood back,
Cool breeze of ocean depth upon this sandy respite,
Liquid fuel renews spirit upon reclining rest,

The day of haste but a memory as temptations are in control,
The toil of tomorrow is forgotten as the moment is now,
Sun sets in glorious shades of night stirred with day,
The slow journey back to abode brings no regrets today...
