Stillness of Night, Stillness of Heart

Stillness of Night, Stillness of Heart

A Poem by Botania

The sounds of summer fill the yard:
familiar sounds long since loved,
contemplative munching on dewy
greenness. What are they saying?
Of what do the creatures of the night
sing? Are they like humans who
choose to speak of the weather?
Beep, beep, chirp, yes it was hot today?
But even recanting the weather that
long would get weary! Their song is
so long! very hot, very hot, yes very hot.
Would they not have something else
to say? This leaf tastes great! Come try
this tree perhaps. Or do they sing with
abandon for their mate, for their love?
Do they not try to impress themselves
each night? Sense must reign even
in a bug's brain!

this reminds me of the sounds the past weeks...the chicadas with their overpowering sound.

dormant for so many years just to arise for a mere 15 to 20 days to sing their song.
maybe there is a message there....life is short...sing its song while we can. appreciate what existence we have while we have it.
